“Atdzimšana” (Rebirth) – Poster Design

This was made as a piece of my visual identity assignment for Davinspiro Camerata’s “Atdzimšana,” a symbolic and emotional concert that is the last large-scale event prior to the reconstruction of Lielā Ģilde concert hall.

Visually, I had hoped that the design would reflect the theme of the concert, which was one of rebirth, conveying a feeling of transition, reflection, and new beginnings. Dark, moody backgrounds provide contrast and depth, and the portraits of the performers emerge in strong clear definition, providing a powerful point of drama that engages the viewer in their expressive presence.

The bold, white title ATDZIMŠANA grounds the composition, and the golden border and soft lighting give the image solemnity and importance – a pictorial nod to the majesty of the venue and the emotional impact of the event.

By marrying photography to a simple typographic composition and deep tonal contrasts, I hoped to convey not just the mood of the concert, but also that of the room that had for so long played host to cultural heritage. It was a challenge to bring together graphic design and narrative, to give life in images to a music of endings and beginnings.
